Carol Shipley,
Assistant District Attorney
Ms. Shipley has a variety of duties in addition to running the office in the absence of the District Attorney. Ms. Shipley is currently the Public Information Officer, is in charge of training, the Family Justice Center Project, and participates in the Children’s Council, SEAPA, and a numerous other projects.
Jerry Begen,
Chief Deputy District Attorney
Mr. Begen oversees deputy district attorneys assigned to the Calendar, the Issuance and the Juvenile Units. The Calendar Unit deputies are each assigned to a different Superior Court department and handle hearings in those departments. The Issuance Unit reviews all police reports brought into the office and determines whether to file criminal charges against the defendants. Mr. Begen is also involved with Drug Court, the School Attendance Review Board, and various other projects.
Alan Cassidy,
Chief Deputy District Attorney
Mr. Cassidy oversees deputy district attorneys assigned to the Preliminary Hearing Unit, the Special Victims’ Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, Major Narcotic Vendor Unit, the Career Criminal Unit and the Vehicle Theft Unit. The Preliminary Team presents the People’s case to the court at a probable cause hearing for a judge to determine if there is enough evidence to hold the defendant for felony arraignment. The Special Victims Unit handles cases involving crimes against children and elders. Mr. Cassidy is also involved in the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, the CAIRE Unit and the Court Watch Program.
Dave Harris,
Chief Criminal Investigator
Mr. Harris oversees the deputy district attorneys assigned to the Misdemeanor Unit, Real Estate Fraud Unit, Consumer Fraud Unit, Auto Insurance Fraud Unit, Welfare Fraud Unit, Felony Trial Unit, Gang Unit, Fraud Unit and the Misdemeanor Unit. Deputy district attorneys assigned to the Misdemeanor Unit handle misdemeanor cases, including misdemeanor jury trials. Mr. Harris oversees the Environmental prosecutors, handles Officer Involved Shootings, Brady Issues and Criminal Grand Jury cases. Mr. Harris is also involved in Stanislaus County's Gang Impact Task Force and is in charge of the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council.
Dan Inderbitzen,
Chief Criminal Investigator
Mr. Inderbitzen oversees the District Attorney’s Criminal Investigator Unit and the Tech Unit. The Criminal Investigators are sworn peace officers for the State of California and perform a wide variety of tasks in preparation of criminal cases for prosecution.
Wendy Duggan,
Financial Manager
Ms. Duggan is in charge of all financial matters and handling the District Attorney’s $15,148,647 budget. She oversees one Accountant and one Account Technician.
Ramon Bawanan,
Human Resources Manager
Mr. Bawanan oversees all personnel functions of the District Attorney’s Office. He is also in charge of Safety. He has one confidential assistant.
Gay McDaniel,
Victim Services Coordinator
Ms. McDaniel oversees the Victim Services Unit. The mission of the Victim Services Unit is to reduce the trauma and insensitive treatment victims may experience in the aftermath of a crime. They provide crisis intervention, emergency assistance and follow-up counseling for victims of crime.
